Nigel and Lorraine

Nigel and Lorraine actually met 20 years ago and had been friends until two years ago when they crossed paths and the chemistry became undeniable.

The couple exchange love heart text messages even when they are sitting together and love all the mushy stuff that their love brings. Lorraine has had Nigel’s hand tattooed on her leg so she can hold it and be close to her love forever.

Nigel has been diagnosed with multifocal hepatocellular carcinoma – which is a terminal form of liver cancer and is receiving palliative care. Nigel has been given a very short life expectancy and is fighting for each week – and day – he can make count.  Lorraine stays strong for him but she also faces a myriad of health issues of her own from emphysema, asthma and a heart condition.

Despite their diagnosis they are looking to spend the precious time they have together making memories and sharing their special love.

When Nigel found out he was getting his My Wedding Wish granted he cried happy tears! – because this would allow him to finally see the smile on the face of his bride to be Lorraine on their so wished for wedding day. A wish that he had worried he could maybe not fulfill due to both their failing health, his terminal diagnosis and extreme financial pressures.

Nigel and Lorraine exchanged their weddings vows on the 30 November (Nigel’s birthday!) in front of their family and friends (and a large party of My Wedding Wish suppliers and supporters)!

Nigel had only been given one clue about his transport for the wedding – that it was ‘blue’. When he saw the blue Kombi he just smiled and smiled – he loved it!

Lorraine looked beautiful as she was escorted down the aisle, by her sisters, to marry her love.

Over 20 My Wedding Wish suppliers came together in a short space of time to make Nigel and Lorraine’s wedding a day they would never forget. Their generosity and willingness to do everything they could possibly do to make the day so special, paid off.

The wedding ceremony will be remembered by everyone present as a day with lots of love, smiles and laughter.

On the 16 August 2020, Nigel, with the cheekiest sense of humour, right until the end, passed away. His adoring wife was beside him and he left this world with her forever loving kisses. It was a privilege for My Wedding Wish to share in their wedding day and we’d like to give a special ‘thank you’ to those who helped make Nigel’s dying wedding wish come true – to marry on his birthday – it was a blissfully beautiful day for all.
