Emily and Naomi : A December 2014 Wish
Naomi and Emily Keast are battlers. The young couple met and fell in love in school and faced much backlash from family, friends and the community who did not understand or agree with their relationship. Together their love has seen them complete high school together, complete tertiary degrees together – they have a son, Jhett, together and they’ve bought a house together. They’ve both worked hard to build a solid loving relationship together. But there is another battle they must now face . Naomi has only recently been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, a disease which will require a lifetime of treatment and care and which will change this family’s world.
But thanks to the Sunshine Coast initiative My Wedding Wish and the generosity of Sunshine Coast and Brisbane wedding suppliers, Naomi and Emily will have the opportunity to create treasured memories in what has been an incredibly tough year when My Wedding Wish founder and Marriage Celebrant, Lynette Maguire, performs a Commitment Ceremony on Thursday at AnnaBella the Wedding Chapel in front of a small number of invited guests.
Lynette, a strong advocate for marriage equality, said the deserving couple were selected from a number of recent applications. The small gifted package includes a venue, flowers, hair and make-up, photography and transport.
“Naomi and Emily have already faced enough of a hard time just battling for their love, so it means a lot to be able to reduce their emotional and financial burden, even if just for a day, and let them step back from the stress and worry they’re facing and enjoy their time together,” Ms Maguire said.
“Naomi is currently undergoing treatment for the MS and we’re all hoping that the disease can be stabilised.”
Naomi and Emily are excited at the prospect of vowing their love in front of close family and friends and were delighted to receive the very generous gift.
“We can’t believe we’ll get to share this very special day with friends and family and we are very grateful for the generous donations from the various businesses involved with My Wedding Wish,” Naomi said.
“This couple is facing some serious health issues and we feel incredibly privileged to be able to give something back and put much-needed smiles on their faces,” Ms Maguire said.
